Shut off

My mother passed away December 4th 2019. You representative said she still owed a bill for December. If you look at her records, she didn't even use minutes the last few months. I told her good luck getting the money from a deceased person. She had no estate, at all, unless you want our baby pics and an artificial christmas tree.

Ease of use is low, functionality spotty

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
My 85 year old Mom is still living alone and driving a little, but not super tech savvy. We got her a JitterBug flip phone years ago and she had good luck with it. Then, after the Great Call acquisition, her red Jitterbug *** out, and they tried to replace the flip phone 3 times; each time the microphone was very poor quality and unacceptable for us, since hearing whether her speech is slurred, or incoherent is a critical part of determining whether she is alright or not. We bought the LivelyMobile device, and switched her to the Smart2 phone. Lively Mobile is bulky and must be charged nightly (which is when she might need it most, so how flawed is that planning?) The smart2 is hard for her. In particular, the 'call 5star' button on the bottom right is SO easy to accidentally press. She continually pressed it by accidental brushing. We didn't have 5star service on the phone, since she had the Neck Button, so when she presses the 5 star button in error, it calls 911. This is a growing demographic, and this shouldn't be so hard.

Worthless phones & worse customer service

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
If I leave my phone alone for a few minutes I lose all service. I must turn off phone and turn it back on to restart service. When I was setting up my phone I called customer service & was told that I was too stupid to set it up. After that I called for help with it losing service 1 answer was it could not happen and then they would hang up, another answer was I was an idiot and hang up. One also told me he knew everything about a phone, I knew nothing. They blamed it on the tower even though I was using a Verizon system and had driven all over the city trying to get a signal. I am going to cancel my service and go back to I phone.

Scam artists - DO NOT USE!!!!

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
They wanted my social security number and password to my ATT website. THat's a scam! I've switched phone services in the past and they never asked for this information. Guy on phone was a real *** too. Didn't want to answer my questions. Now that's a scam giveaway. THeir ad promises you can keep your old number when you switch, however, they have no control over this!

Not a company that cares about seniors

Do not buy into this , we purchased smart phones and a monthly plan, we were specifically told if we got near our data limit we would be notified!, Well we did not receive any notification and our bill went from $87.27 to $153.35 ! when we called we were told that a robo call had been sent but not answered !!!!!!!! When complained that we were not notified as promised they said we the call went out you will have to pay We are done with this scam crap that they care about seniors and are telling anyone we know NOT to BUY INTO THEIR SO CALLED CARE

If you can't abide poor customer service, don't buy

Attempts to activate the Jitterbug Smart 2 demonstrated to me how piss-poor their customer service, printed documentation and website is. So I'm going to return the Jitterbug and go with another phone.

The great world-wide ripp-off

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full
When I used a smart phone before retiring a few years ago--I was never charged for using the internet for incoming updates to my phone. I purchased a new smart2m phone based on their advertising in AARP that it was great for seniors and easy to use. They had a plan for under twenty dollars a month, which would be OK for people who only received and sent a few texts a month. What they did not reveal was the fact that the smart phone came pre-loaded with a bunch of apps that constantly send up-grades to your phone--that you have to pay for, It's like putting your wallet up to your head and pulling the trigger. Shutting off your phone will not help, because those up-dates get stored in the "cloud" and send those stock-piled messages into your phone like bullets from a machine gun when you power it up. The program built into the system prevents great call, or any network from stopping this from happening. Your only option is blocking anything from going into your phone after these aps have burnt through all the MG allowed for the program you signed up for--or you can up=grade your plan and pay more for an "unlimited" plan. That means you are paying for what amounts to robo calls--and don't even know it. I'm not sure how many smart phones are being used on our planet--but you could probably multiply that number by five dollars, and come up with the amount of money the consumers are being robbed of every month. I imagine the dollar amount is in the millions. I went back to a flip phone. Flip them all.

Inexplicable & (apparently) unfixable problem

stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full stars-rating-full

Purchased Jitterbug Smart 2 phone for my 93-year-old father, thinking it would be easier to use than his previous phone. Prior to switching, he was in a bundled family plan with my brother & sister-in-law, with another provider.

GreatCall was able to port his number over to the Jitterbug. HOWEVER, now when he calls my brother, Dad cannot hear that my brother's phone is ringing & thus thinks the call has not connected. My brother hears the phone when he gets a call from dad, but my dad cannot hear that my brother's phone is ringing when calling him. We have told him just to wait until my brother answers or he hears the voice mail message, but he is too inflexible to do this.

Numerous attempts to correct this with Customer Support have failed & no one seems interested in fixing the problem. I had a savvy tech person check out the phone & he suggested that there is a problem with the hardware. I even went to the other carrier's store to determine if the problem was with them. I would like to get another Jitterbug to see if the problem is still there, but that seems impractical & I know I would get charged an enormous amount.

This is the only problem with this phone & it seems like it would be easy to fix. I'm sure we're not the only ones who have had a number ported out of a family plan.

The Same exact problem had existed with my wife's phone she too had from Jitter Bug.."Great Call". Their tech support told her numerous times "its a hardware problem" with apps.

pre-loaded on he phone and there was No solution but to "get a New phone" but she would have Paid for it along with a new service account. Great Call isn't into Customer satisfaction but Only Monthly subscriptions PAID.

And what ever You do, Do Not put these parasites on "Auto-Pay". They're Not responsible enough to handle such complicating monetary issues.
