GreatCall - Broken service

Details
Be aware that Great Call’s Lively GPS/fall detection devices do not work, are no longer being sold, and are the subject of a class action suit. If you have one and are paying for the service make sure to place rest calls on a regular basis. Their Customer Service reps are trained to stonewall problems. If you need a device, then test your device and it does not work then notify Great Call you are dropping the service and make sure your bank or credit card blocks further debits. If you’ve been harmed by Great Call problems the class action attorneys can be found by an internet search. PC Magazine has an 2019 unbiased review of services and medical devices that are available.

We have had a GC smartphone for about a year and my wife only used it if absolutely needed. 1-2 calls a month. I recently needed to use and carry for an entire weekend as my normal phone broke. Twice I stuck it in my shirt pocket and next thing I know I am getting a call from a 911 operator and a visit from the police. The 5 Star app is activated so easily. I asked customer service about removing this and they say can't. That's enough. Phone off and into garbage. My new phone is die tomorrow and my wife will be betting a different one also and not a Great Call

The Same exact problem had existed with my wife's phone she too had from Jitter Bug.."Great Call". Their tech support told her numerous times "its a hardware problem" with apps.

pre-loaded on he phone and there was No solution but to "get a New phone" but she would have Paid for it along with a new service account. Great Call isn't into Customer satisfaction but Only Monthly subscriptions PAID.

And what ever You do, Do Not put these parasites on "Auto-Pay". They're Not responsible enough to handle such complicating monetary issues.

Four calls and I still cannot activate new phone. One rep said to charge it and I have been charging it for two hours and it is still in "finishing activation" mode. I went on line to activate and the process stops at "do you want to keep your old number?" I type yes and there is another number to call which is BUSY!!!!!

I purchased the jitterbug flip phone for my elderly mom. Activation attempts have unsuccessful and Great Call's customer service and tech support were unable to assist me even after a few hours on the phone with them. This seems to be a terrible investment and if anyone is interested in using Great Call, I'd say try another company. I have not been able to activate the phone and the 30 return has passed. Great call was a bad call.

GreatCall - Crazy overage charges

My 90 yo father bought a Jitterbug and Great Call service (200 voice minutes/month, which should have been sufficient). He thought his Consumer Cellular phone had quite working (even though it had not, I later found out). After some months, he started received numerous text messages and phone calls from unknown sources. Each and every call or text to/from his phone was billed at 25 - 35 cents a minute, even is the call only lasted 10 seconds. So he wound up with enormous overage charges. He doesn't even know how to text! So far, his bills for the last 3 months are almost as much as 5 years of service with Consumer Cellular. I am switching him back to Consumer Cellular. DO NOT USE GREAT CALL!
